Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a gentle yet powerful technique that accesses the Universal Life Force for the purpose of bringing balance to all areas of your life. It was rediscovered late last century in Japan by Dr Mikao Usui, a distinguished scholar, in his study of ancient texts.
A Reiki treatment with Hands of Joy is done whilst lying down on the massage table with the client fully clothed. It involves Joy placing her hands in a series of positions over the vital organs of your body to channel energy for your own body to heal. In this simple art of life energy renewal, there are no special exercises, breathing, words, doctrine or belief system required for it to be effective.
There are two stages or levels in the practice of Reiki, according to the original Usui tradition, taught by the Reiki Training Academy on behalf of the Usui Reiki Network (International). They are Reiki I (Basic) where energy flows at the touch of the practitioners’ hands, and Reiki II (Advanced) where the energy is more powerful and can also be projected by the practitioner over long distances to serve others who are not in reach. Joy is an advanced Reiki channel who practices this healing gift in an authentic way as taught by her teachers and direct lineage.
Transmitted through the hands, the additional flow of Reiki energy is perceived by people in many different ways such as heat, chill, tingling, pulsing or vibrations. Reiki is very calming and soothing to give and receive. Reiki only works for one’s highest good.
Joy benefits in using Reiki in everyday life and with her clients constantly and offers treatments starting from just $25 (30 minute treatment). Reiki is a wonderful tool in combination with tapping, massage or alone because it induces inner calm, enhances wellbeing and enthusiasm for life as well as renewing one’s sense of purpose. All new clients receive a complimentary printed postcard of the five beautiful Reiki Ideas as a welcome gift.
As a practitioner, Joy believes you must yourself have attained mastery of a technique before you teach it. She can put you in touch with the Usui network coordinators to learn about their next Reiki information evening and dates for their bi-annual seminars.
